Mary & Michael Engaged

Looking back at the final product, it’s hard to believe what a stressful session this started out to be. Mary & Michael planned on meeting us at Lake Bryan for their lakeside engagement session. They were heading in from Houston, and if you’ve ever been in Houston traffic, you know it’s never easy getting through it if you’re on a tight timeframe. They ended up getting stuck in Houston, which put them behind quite a bit. We were shooting at sunset, which meant if they got stuck for too long, the light would be gone for the day. Somehow they were able to get here with 30 minutes to spare before sunset.

We got right to shooting and moved quickly. We lucked out and got pure sun during the golden hour, which really brought their session to life. After it was all said and done, their engagement shoot ended up being one of our all-time favorites. It was one of our first lakeside shoots and was probably the shortest session we’ve done. Despite the insanity, everyone loved how everything turned out.

They love being by the water, so Lake Bryan was on our mind from the very beginning. It was a little nod to their beach wedding only a few months after (which was incredible and will be on the blog soon). Their colors complimented each other so well and went with the fall sunset feel of the shoot. Urban Rubbish provided two stunning bouquets to add an extra element to the session. Two champagne glasses and a bottle of champagne was the perfect touch to a stressful evening. We all sat around after and had a glass to celebrate their engagement and a beautiful evening of shooting.
